Decadent aromas of raw meat and ripe fruit follow through to a full body, round and juicy texture with a ripe-fruit finish. A blend of nerello mascalese and nerello cappuccio. From organically grown grapes.

I love the cherry, plum and orange peel character of this red. Medium body with firm and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs a year or two to soften.

Masseria Setteporte

The Masseria Setteporte winery occupies a truly distinctive location: nestled on the southwestern slopes of Sicily's renowned Mount Etna, within the boundaries of the Etna D.O.C. region. The Portale family, stewards of Masseria Setteporte, have upheld and passed down their deep winemaking traditions through generations. In 2002, Piero Portale took up the mantle from his father, continuing to expand the estate from its original 12 hectares to an impressive 27 hectares. Of these, 16.5 hectares are already dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards themselves are meticulously tended on south-facing terraces, perched at elevations ranging from 650 to 800 meters above sea level. Here, the volcanic soil, high altitudes, and the characteristic Mediterranean climate converge to create a truly unique environment for winemaking. The resulting wines from Masseria Setteporte are renowned for their elegance, intriguing aromatic profiles, and exceptional drinkability, reflecting the essence of this extraordinary terroir.
