Tasting Notes

Sensationally perfumed (soft rose petals, ripe strawberries and fragrant citrus blossoms), Francesca Rosé is the perfect picnic companion. Delicately pink in colour, impossibly dry and intriguingly textural, this French-approved drop is quite simply delightful. Sit back and pour a glass - you’ll go straight to Provence.

Winemaking Style:Progressive yet respectful of tradition

Winemaking:The fruit was handpicked early and quickly chilled to preserve the varietal character of each grape. Gentle pressing with minimal skin contact gave the juice its delicate, pale pink hue. Following pressing, the parcels were settled and fermented separately to allow each variety to express its unique qualities. The wine was then filtered, blended, and bottled early to capture its beautiful aromatic profile.

Viticulture:The 2024 vintage was shaped by extreme weather patterns, including El Niño, cool temperatures and low rainfall in key periods. For McLaren Vale, these factors contributed to smaller yields but also high-quality fruit, aligning with reports of "excellent" vintages in certain pockets of the region.

Food Pairing:Cheese boards, Spicy food.

James Halliday

Wine Companion

"Crafted from a blend of mourvèdre and merlot sourced from organic growers in McLaren Vale, with fermentation and maturation in Broke. A nuanced, fragrant aroma of sweet peas and lemons sets the tone for this delightful wine. The palate is fresh, tight, bright and flavoursome. Joyous, beautiful and delicious." - Toni Paterson

Krinklewood

Krinklewood, a biodynamic winery in the serene Hunter Valley, operates in harmony with nature's rhythms. Nestled by the Brokenback Range and Wollombi Brook, this family-owned gem features 49 acres of vineyards and forthcoming thermal pools. Founded in 1981 by Rod Windrim and family, Krinklewood embraced organic and biodynamic practices in 2002, defying conventions. Every corner of Krinklewood holds Rod's loving touch, a repository of cherished memories. Oscar Martin, the custodian since 2020, holds a deep connection to this place as a retreat from the city's hustle. A sustainable future is his vision, aligning with Krinklewood's commitment to earth-friendly practices. Valentina Moresco, the winemaker, sees wine as bottled poetry, a way to convey the land's essence. She aims to make Krinklewood wines vessels of memory, evoking moments under the Manchurian pears in the cellar door. Krinklewood is not just a winery; it's an invitation to savour life's moments and the land's richness.
