Unlike more robust grapes, Nebbiolo is famously difficult to cultivate, often requiring the most sun-drenched, well-drained positions on a slope to reach maturity.
In conventional viticulture, this vulnerability often leads to the heavy use of systemic fungicides and herbicides to protect the crop from the temperamental climates of regions such as Piedmont or the Victorian Highlands.

These synthetic inputs do more than just protect the vine; they can alter the delicate pH balance of the fruit and mute the secondary aromas—such as truffle, leather, and anise—that develop during ageing.
By choosing certified organic Nebbiolo, you ensure that the wine's complex profile is a direct expression of the earth and the vintage's specific microclimate, rather than a product of industrial manipulation. This commitment to farming preserves the grape’s natural tannins and acidity, providing the structural integrity needed for the wine to evolve gracefully in the cellar.

Why buy your organic Nebbiolo wines from FAB
Every producer in our Nebbiolo collection holds current, independently audited organic or biodynamic certification. Our team tastes every wine before it is listed to ensure the liquid in the glass reflects the quality of the farming.
These estates are primarily small, family-run operations that harvest by hand and avoid synthetic chemical shortcuts.
For those in Sydney, the FAB store at Shop 1/202 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills offers a complimentary wine tasting every day from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Mark and the team curate the selection daily, and no reservation is required.

Frequently asked questions
I am buying organic Nebbiolo as a gift. Can FAB help me choose the right bottle?
Yes. If you are in Sydney, visit our store in Surry Hills between 12 and 8 pm and our team will help you find the right bottle for your budget. If you are ordering online, send us an email and we will provide a personal recommendation, as we know every wine in this collection personally.
How is this different from the organic wine I have tried before?
Many disappointing organic wines come from producers who converted for commercial reasons rather than conviction. FAB only lists wines that pass a rigorous tasting process, regardless of the certification they hold. This ensures that the Nebbiolo you receive possesses the varietal authenticity and "juice value" expected of a premium product.
I want to order a mixed selection of organic Nebbiolo. Is that possible?
Yes. You can add any combination of bottles to your order and check out as normal. Free delivery applies to all orders over $200 Australia-wide. If you would like a curated selection put together for you, our team can organise that directly.
How quickly will my wine order arrive?
Orders are packed and dispatched by our team in Sydney. Most metropolitan orders arrive within two to three business days. Every order is packed with protective materials to shield the wine from damage during transit.
Why does organic Nebbiolo cost more than conventional wine?
Organic viticulture requires significantly more labour, including hand-harvesting and cover cropping, which adds cost at the vineyard level. While a premium bottle may cost more, it often contains six to eight times the value in terms of grape quality compared to a mass-produced bottle, where much of the price is consumed by taxes and industrial logistics.
Is home delivery more sustainable than buying from a local shop?
Professional home delivery is more carbon-efficient than personal car trips to a bottle shop. A parcel carrier delivers to dozens of homes in a single, optimised loop, which research suggests generates significantly lower emissions than a dedicated journey in a personal vehicle.
