Tasting Notes

This Portuguese grape is made into a mid-weight wine, with lovely light floral characters; not what you would usually expect from McLaren Vale. It has bright red fruits on the nose, with a whiff of Earl Grey tea, too. It has a light, balanced palate, again with red fruits and cherries, and is nicely proportioned and full of flavour. One of the first reviews of this wine by Max Allen paired the Touriga with Portuguese chicken with cucumber, fennel and avocado salad. This pairing still stands!

The Real Review - Gabrielle Poy

Medium purple colour, with attractive notes of mocha and blueberries. The palate is less intense than the nose might suggest. This is a fresh and clean style that drinks well in it youth with supple tannins

Battle of Bosworth

Battle of Bosworth Wines draws inspiration from the historic Battle of Bosworth in 1485 and the demise of Richard III. Joch Bosworth, the driving force behind the winery, is recognized as a prominent organic winemaker and grape grower. His dedication to organic practices began due to a discomfort with synthetic chemicals and a belief in traditional farming methods suited for McLaren Vale. The vineyards, featuring Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Mourvèdre, are fully certified organic, embracing sustainable weed management and re-vegetation projects for biodiversity. Joch Bosworth's commitment to innovation, environmental sustainability, and grape growing excellence earned him the title of McLaren Vale's grape grower of the year in 2008.
