Tasting Notes

Released in 2017 as a 7th Pinot Noir in the range, Pinot Naturel by FROMM, the first ever 'natural' wine. In recent years there has been a lot of talk about "natural" wines but we believe that a natural wine should be made from organically or bio-dynamically certified grapes with minimal additions. Pinot Naturel by FROMM is an uncomplicated, refreshing and vibrant red. Naturel Pinot opens with bright red fruit characters and then revealing aromatic spice and rose petal florals. The palate is juicy, vibrant and energetic with a refreshing moreish finish.

The Real Review - Bob Campbell MW

Fermented using wild yeasts without any additives apart from a minimum of sulphur. Unfined and unfiltered. Reasonably soft and approachable pinot noir with plum, berry and herb flavours together with a sappy, savoury undercurrent. Distinctive.

In the late 1980s, Georg Fromm and Hätsch Kalberer came together to establish FROMM Winery. Their official winemaking journey began in 1992 with the planting of the first vines. Although the Fromms returned to Switzerland in 2008, FROMM Winery now continues under the leadership of owners Pol Lenzinger, Stephan Walliser, and George Walliser. FROMM Winery is renowned for its wines that elegantly combine European finesse with New Zealand innovation. Their core philosophy places quality, terroir, and organic principles above all else, emphasizing sustainable practices, including closely planted vines, low crop yields, and minimal irrigation. The heart of FROMM Winery is the Fromm Vineyard. This vineyard's unique terroir, influenced by the nearby Wairau River, imparts distinct characteristics to their wines, resulting in a robust structure, firm backbone, and signature tannins.
