Tasting Notes

Sourced from the biodynamically certified Dark Horse Vineyard in Murrumbateman, this Shiraz includes 4% Viognier that was co-harvested and co-fermented, then aged for 12 months in French oak puncheons. The wine shows a vibrant ruby hue and freshness in the glass, with aromas of raspberries, wild strawberries, and Morello cherries. The Viognier adds lively vitality without dominating the profile, bringing subtle hints of rhubarb and warm sumac spice. On the palate, notes of white pepper and earthy spice mingle with juicy acidity and smooth, integrated tannins, reflecting its cool-climate origins while delivering lasting, sinewy flavour.

The Real Review

Stuart Knox

A full ruby-red hue. Slightly subdued nose of mulberry and crushed violets. Palate shows much more vibrancy with purple berries leaping with white pepper spices and hints of roses and violets. Medium in weight with a silky drive, tannins press in towards the finish to add tension and ensure a good length to the fine finish. Lovely cool-climate shiraz at a very good price.
