Michel Chapoutier, an unconventional visionary, challenging tradition and passionately embracing biodynamics. Dedicated to expressing the soil's essence, his philosophy is deeply rooted in the land. Dressed in a radiant golden yellow, Le Méal shines brilliantly. Its scent is a potent mix, defined by a distinct mineral essence, a whiff of celery, and a subtle, seamlessly blended touch of oak. The palate begins with a generous embrace, transitioning into a smooth flow marked by a zesty exotic touch and the warm notes of roasted almond. Depending on its vintage, this wine's elegance has the potential to unfold over 30 to a remarkable 75 years.

Winemaking:After pressing the entire grapes, the must is cold settling between 24 and 48 hours. About 50% of the volume is vinified in big new wooden barrels (600 liters), the others ferment in vats

Viticulture:The grapes producing “Le Méal” come from the Méal hillside. This is an old fluvioglacial alluvial deposit soil with shingles which contribute to the soil warming

The 2010 Ermitage le Meal Blanc is pure perfection in a glass. One of the densest, most concentrated, decadent and thrilling whites I've tasted, it offers a sensational bouquet of crème caramel, caramelized peach, crushed rock and smoke. Unctuous and chewy on the palate, with awesome depth of fruit, it has thrilling purity, laser focus and a finish that just won't quit. White wine does not get any better and it will have an incredible 50+ years of longevity.

White Hermitage (or Ermitage as Chapoutier prefers) remains one of the great undervalued wines of the world, and this shows you exactly why everyone should be getting on board. Even now, at approaching 10 years old, it tastes incredibly young, with a good decade ahead of it. Silky texture, rich round stone fruits, citrus, rosemary, full of complexity and pleasure, with a point of anis bitterness on the finish. This is as decadent as white wine gets, and it's fabulous. Biodynamic.
