Tasting Notes

Maison Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy’s most respected family-owned domaines, founded in 1880 in Beaune and still guided by the Drouhin family across four generations. Today, siblings Frédéric, Véronique, Philippe, and Laurent continue its pursuit of elegance, balance, and authenticity. This classic white Burgundy is fresh and approachable, showing a pale golden hue with a green glint. Aromas of fresh grape, citrus, and green almond lead into a fruit-driven palate with a supple, elegant texture and a clean, balanced finish.

Winemaking:Vinification follows a precision-driven, traditional Burgundian approach. After gentle pressing using pneumatic presses and static settling, fermentation takes place in a split regime of approximately two-thirds stainless steel and one-third French oak (500L barrels). This combination preserves freshness while adding subtle texture and complexity.

Viticulture:The Bourgogne Chardonnay is sourced from across Burgundy’s diverse vineyard mosaic, with grapes selected from carefully controlled partner growers working to strict specifications. The soils are predominantly clay and limestone, reflecting the classic geological base of the region. Fruit is harvested by hand or machine depending on site conditions, with rigorous selection ensuring consistency and regional typicity. The cuvée is designed as an introduction to Burgundy, rather than a single-vineyard expression.

Food Pairing:Shellfish, prawns, oysters, grilled white fish, roast chicken, veal, soft cheeses such as Brie and Camembert.
