Tasting Notes

Michel Tardieu, one of France's esteemed winemakers, is celebrated for his elusive, highly sought-after wines, even though he lacks his own vineyards. In 1996, alongside his friend Dominique Laurent, he co-founded the Tardieu-Laurent winery. Their vision was straightforward yet profound: procure the finest grapes from select plots tended by exceptional winegrowers and create exceptional wines in their own cellar. From northern appellations like Condrieu and St. Joseph to the iconic Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône, Tardieu-Laurent fulfills every oenophile's desires. This Viognier offers the finest aromas of white flowers, complemented by notes of citrus fruits and lime peels. The palate showcases an exceptional concentration, with hints of melon and pear. Despite its strength, this Viognier retains a striking elegance and a touch of playfulness. It exemplifies the perfect balance between high phenolic maturity and well-preserved acidity, making it a truly harmonious wine.

Jancis Robinson

Rather light nose. Good gummy savour on the palate and a well-balanced satiny palate, but a much more timid aroma than most Condrieu. Perhaps it needs time?
