A vibrant bouquet of ripe red fruits with underlying earthy tones and subtle spicy oak. The palate displays layers of delicate fruit and delicate savoury characters, balanced with gentle acidity and fine tannins. A very stylish and appealing Pinot Noir.

Winemaking Style:Minimal-intervention

Harvest:Hand-picked

Winemaking:Chilled overnight at 2C to preserve delicate flavours. The cold fruit is de-stemmed and crushed into open-top fermenters. Naturally fermented by the vineyard’s wild yeasts and aged for a year in wood.

Viticulture:Grown in European style high-density planting using top quality Burgundy clones. Shoot and fruit thinned to ensure good ripening and development of flavours and tannin.

Food Pairing:Roast Duck with Cherry Sauce, Beef Bourguignon, Grilled Salmon with Dill Sauce, Coq au Vin, Mushroom Risotto, Beef Wellington, Seared Ahi Tuna, Ratatouille, Lamb Tagine, Grilled Portobello Mushrooms.

Founded in 1996 by the Sowman brothers, Clyde and Nigel, Walnut Block is a distinguished winery nestled in the heart of New Zealand's esteemed Marlborough wine region. Their journey began with the planting of their very first vineyard, strategically located in the Wairau Valley, renowned for its exceptional terroir and favourable grape-growing climate. Nearly a decade later, in 2005, the Sowman brothers officially established Walnut Block Winery, a family endeavour built upon their shared love for viticulture and winemaking. The name "Walnut Block" pays homage to the magnificent walnut tree that stands as a proud sentinel in the centre of their vineyard, serving as a symbol of their commitment to both nature and tradition. Their portfolio includes exceptional Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, and a range of other varietals that capture the essence of New Zealand's terroir.
