Tasting Notes

The name of this Apulian grape variety, Negroamaro, aptly reflects its deep color, while 'Amaro' hints at its wonderfully bitter taste, making it an ideal choice for various culinary pairings. The wine exhibits an intense ruby-dark garnet red hue with nearly black reflections. Its bouquet offers subtle hints of dark florals and petite blackberry fruits, complemented by delicate tobacco notes. On the palate, it presents a dry and pleasantly bitter profile, devoid of residual sugar

Jancis Robinson

The smell is a smorgasbord of dried cherries, bresaola, kitchen drains and lavender. It reminds me of walking through parts of old Rome in an early summer morning! A wine that, young as it is, would really benefit from a bit of air. I'd just pour it into a fat jug, in fact. No need for pretension. Touch of tobacco leaf, wild cranberry, stemmy organic minerality, hedgerow blackberries, touch of chocolate mint leaf. This is extraordinarily fresh! Tiny trace of tapenade. Silk-shift tannins with a purring bite. This is just perfect – a wine that fits itself in every way.

Cantine Losito

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Losito family embarked on their journey, drawn to the picturesque Terre del Gargano in northern Apulia. Here, they found the perfect amalgamation of seas, mountains, fertile land, and an idyllic climate for nurturing top-quality grapes. This enchanting backdrop sowed the seeds of Cantine Losito. A pivotal moment arrived in 1998 when they made the audacious choice to transition to organic farming, prioritizing the well-being of the environment and the creation of healthier grapes. The third generation, represented by Giovanni and Aurelia, wholeheartedly embraced the family's rich legacy. Giovanni, an accomplished oenologist, manages vineyard care and winemaking alongside his father. Meanwhile, Aurelia passionately focuses on expanding Cantine Losito's global footprint. Today, the Losito family proudly tends to 60 hectares in the Terre del Gargano, producing exceptional wines exclusively from their own organic grapes. Their story is one of deep-rooted tradition, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
