This Chenin Blanc presents, hints of chamomile tea developing into honeysuckle with baked brioche notes. Apricot kernels with pink grapefruit and lemon pith. The Wine Front - Mike Bennie

This wine is epic. Strong aromas of green apple, floral things, faint vanilla and spice, whiffs of green herb. The palate is similar, good inward concentration, fantastic chalky-powdery characters, exceptionally long and fine feeling. So very beautiful this wine. Such wonderful personality.

Halliday Companion - Campbell Mattinson

Smoked apple, hay and yeast characters give this pulpy chenin a bit of attitude. Lots of texture and/or grip too. Pretty well done you'd have to say.

The Real Review - Huon Hooke

Light to mid yellow colour. The bouquet is dusty and powder-puff floral, with creamy yeast lees and almond meal notes. In the glass it developed honey and spicy, cinnamon like aromas reminiscent of mulled wine. The wine is soft and rich, with a firm vein of phenolic bitterness running through it, and the flavours and aromas are strongly skewed towards the almond meal and marzipan spectrum. A very unusual but appealing wine. It demands food.

Castagna

Julian and Carolann Castagna left their careers in the film industry to establish Castagna Vineyard. They aimed to create unique wines capturing the essence of Côte-Rôtie, a style then rare in Australia. Located in Northeast Victoria, the vineyard, certified organic and biodynamic, features Syrah vines planted in 1997, descendants of 1850s Rhone stock. With a focus on quality over quantity, their meticulous approach includes hand-pruning, hand-picking, traditional winemaking techniques, and careful aging in French oak. The vineyard's biodynamic practices highlight the granitic-loam soil's minerality, and they utilize rare genetic material from Australia to craft exceptional wines. The vineyard's continental climate and unique soil composition further contribute to their distinctive wines. Castagna Vineyard has successfully carved out its niche in the world of wine.
