Tasting Notes

The estate's flagship wine hails from a 3-hectare parcel adjacent to the winery. Here, 70-year-old vines with an eastward orientation thrive in a soil composition of iron-rich red clay and limestone pebbles. The resulting wine captivates with its exquisite texture, saline undertones, pronounced minerality, and perfect balance, standing as the quintessential expression of the Domaine and a significant reference point for this deserving yet relatively undiscovered appellation.

Textural and gourmand, the 2019 Pouilly-Loché Clos des Rocs (Monopole) opens in the glass with scents of pear, clear honey, fresh bread, nutmeg and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, layered and satiny, its fleshy core of fruit is framed by lively acids that enliven the saline finish.

Clos des Rocs

In 2002, Olivier Giroux acquired the Saint-Philibert estate, nestled near Fuissé in the Mâconnais region, and christened it 'CLOS des ROCS.' With unwavering dedication, he transitioned the entire estate to organic farming to ensure that his wines faithfully reflect the exceptional terroir they originate from. The estate, nearly entirely encompassing a single east-facing slope, boasts 10 hectares of vines from the Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations, with an average vine age of over 60 years. Olivier Giroux, a passionate and dynamic winemaker, imbues his wines with his own personality: enjoyable, wholesome, and featuring a remarkably expressive and round palate.
