Salcheto

Founded in 1984 in Montepulciano, Tuscany The name "Salcheto" draws inspiration from the ancient Tuscan language, where "Salco" signifies the willow tree. Willow branches played a vital role in vineyard cultivation, used to bind and support vines. The stream named Salcheto, originating near Montepulciano and flowing through a valley rich with willow trees, forms the boundary of their organic and biodynamic estate. The willow tree, significant in both history and environmental sustainability, is prominently featured in their logo. Salcheto's journey encompasses more than three decades of innovation and commitment to terroir-driven, Sangiovese-focused wines. They prioritize drinkability and aromatic precision, practicing winemaking with indigenous yeasts and no or low added sulfites. The winery operates "off-grid," achieving energy independence, and employs an integrated environmental estate management model, achieving world-leading indexing of Carbon and Water Fotprint.
