Tasting Notes

Legend has it that the Greek hero Diomede, upon reaching the shores of the Gargano, in the Apulian Region, brought with him vines from Troy. Historians also recount that Frederick II had a penchant for savoring the 'full-bodied wine of Troy.' While this grape variety was traditionally employed to fortify weaker wines, recent times have revealed its potential to produce exceptional wines when vinified as a single varietal.

Jancis Robinson

More savoury and dense than the Negroamaro, with slightly drier tannins. Iris-scented; honeybush tea, cooked plums, cherries steeped in tea, juniper stems. Complex and, like the Negroamaro, with this cool spicy lavender breath blowing through a long horizontal cylindrical freshness. Really lovely, intentional, graceful wine. (

Cantine Losito

In the 1950s and 1960s, the Losito family embarked on their journey, drawn to the picturesque Terre del Gargano in northern Apulia. Here, they found the perfect amalgamation of seas, mountains, fertile land, and an idyllic climate for nurturing top-quality grapes. This enchanting backdrop sowed the seeds of Cantine Losito. A pivotal moment arrived in 1998 when they made the audacious choice to transition to organic farming, prioritizing the well-being of the environment and the creation of healthier grapes. The third generation, represented by Giovanni and Aurelia, wholeheartedly embraced the family's rich legacy. Giovanni, an accomplished oenologist, manages vineyard care and winemaking alongside his father. Meanwhile, Aurelia passionately focuses on expanding Cantine Losito's global footprint. Today, the Losito family proudly tends to 60 hectares in the Terre del Gargano, producing exceptional wines exclusively from their own organic grapes. Their story is one of deep-rooted tradition, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
