Hailing from the chalk-laden 1er Cru vineyards of Les Barillers and Les Faucherets, in Vertus's mid-slopes, this wine encapsulates the village's quintessential mineral heart, echoing the revered chalky essence of Le Mesnil. In the vast tapestry of Champagne, Terre de Vertus emerges as a mineral-driven masterpiece, epitomizing the pinnacle of the grower movement.

Winemaking Style:Grower Champagne

Winemaking:Grapes undergo gentle pressing, with juices lightly settled before barreling. Both natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentations proceed spontaneously in Stockinger barrels. The wines mature on natural lees for a year without filtration or fining. Each bottle is manually disgorged 6 months prior release. This wine is non-dosed (no added sugar) to respect its purity to the end.

Viticulture:This plot of Chardonnay has been vinified separately since 1995. This is the place called Les Barillers located in the middle of the hillside in Vertus.

“The 2016 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Terre de Vertus 1er Cru is fabulous. Comprised of 100%Chardonnay from two mid-slope parcels in Vertus, it is perfumed and exotic, with striking aromatics. This cuvée straddles the line between still and sparkling wine. Lime, mint, white pepper and chalk lend tons of high-toned character. The 2016 is really quite compelling. Bottled with no dosage.”
