Harvest:The growing season saw above-average rainfall and cool, wet conditions, leading to balanced canopies and lower yields. La Niña weather continued through harvest, allowing us to optimize practices like shoot thinning and leaf removal. The result is a vintage that, despite the cooler conditions, promises some of the Estate's most delicate and elegant wines, with harvest completed in early April.
Winemaking:Varieties whole bunch pressed separately to tank and settled. Clear juice racked to stainless steel for cool fermentation. Matured on lees in stainless steel before blending and further maturation in old French oak for 5 months.
Viticulture:Yangarra is a single-vineyard estate situated in Blewitt Springs, at the northern edge of the McLaren Vale region, South Australia. Yangarra’s combination of ancient geology, high altitude and Mediterranean climate provide the ideal growing conditions for the best grape varieties of the southern Rhône. Along with Australia’s First Families of Wine, committed to reducing carbon emissions and reaching net carbon zero targets by 2035.
