The wine is elegant and fresh, with a lean, persistent finish. Lifted aromas of citrus blossom, honey, and a hint of gooseberry enhance the bouquet, while the palate is bright, focused, and intensely flavoured, with a subtle front-palate tannin that lingers. This is a fruit-driven, varietally expressive Sauvignon Blanc, delivering a clean, dry, and appetising finish.

Harvest:The 2024 vintage, the hottest and driest on record, brought an early harvest with exceptional sunshine. Wines show remarkable concentration, depth, and opulence, with both whites and reds promising great future development.

Winemaking:This wine is a great example of certified biodynamic fruit. Harvested on the fruit and flower days of the biodynamic calendar and fermented without oak, additions of yeast or acid. Some skin contact time before fermentation.

The Real Review

Huon Hooke

Lovely lifted perfume, sweet citrus blossom, a whiff of honey, a nudge of gooseberry. Palate is bright and firmly intense with a little tannin bitterness on the front-palate that lingers on. It's a fruit-driven style, strongly varietal sauvignon blanc ruling the roost. Clean, dry and appetising finish. (Sauvignon blanc, semillon and chenin blanc).

The back label says this is sauvignon blanc and semillon with a splash of chenin blanc. The result? A delicious drink. Floral and spicy, tangy and juicy, it’s a combo that’s come together so well – nothing dominates. There’s texture, a tug of phenolics adding to the palate weight and lively acidity to close. Nice one.

In 1966, on the advice of eminent agronomist, Dr John Gladstones, Dr Kevin John and Diana Madeline Cullen and friends undertook a trial planting of vines in Wilyabrup, Margaret River. In 1971, they established Cullen Wines with the first vines planted on their sheep and cattle farm; these are now the iconic Cullen cabernet sauvignon vines. All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified biodynamic, organic, carbon neutral and naturally powered estate. In 2020, Chief Winemaker Vanya Cullen was awarded ‘Winemaker of the Year’ in the Halliday Wine Companion and the winery voted 'Best in Australia' by Huon Hooke’s The Real Review. In 2021, Vanya was the recipient of Halliday’s 2022 Wine Companion Inaugural Viticulturist of the Year Award.
