This wine was a Jimmy Watson Trophy runner-up and also has been awarded Best Organic Wine in Australia (2016 vintage). This is the flagship wine from Pig Wines and has a lovely white pepper nose with more dark fruits on the palate and the finish is long and flavoursome.

The Real Review - Aaron Brasher

Vibrant purple and youthful in the glass. Lifted aromas of blueberry, cherry, sarsparilla, dried herbs, spice and vanilla. Bright, fleshy, juicy and full-flavoured, laden with firm tannins and bright acidity. Full of blue fruits, dark cherry, a touch of brambly blackberry and some charry-oak. Top value

It’s a good wine. Good to drink, right now. Polished. Fruit-driven. Tipped with toasty oak, just the right amount. Red-berried fruits with florals. Maybe some star anise, just. Dry tannin in modest but appropriate measure. It’s very nicely done, and offers good value.

Organic winemaking has flourished in recent years, making Jason O'Dea and his wife Rebecca's choice to embrace it 21 years ago a wise decision. Their vineyard, Pig In The House, is situated 20 kilometres from Cowra in New South Wales' picturesque Central Ranges. Established in 1996, it's owned and managed by Jason and Rebecca O'Dea. The property once accommodated free-range pigs, and the current house was a friendly abode for them, a house now shared by Jason, Rebecca, and their three children. The terroir of this site is well-suited for crafting premium wines. The O'Deas firmly believe that healthy soil is the foundation of their organic wine production and essential for their farm's sustainability. Their commitment includes compost application, mulching, biodynamic preparations, and the management of cover crops to increase soil humus and organic matter.
