Tasting Notes

Cullen Rose' presents, aromas of ripe wild berries and vibrant raspberry unfold gracefully, giving way to creamy strawberries, delicate rose petals, and subtle cesti grapefruit nuances. On the palate, fresh and lively notes of rose hip and cherries are framed by juicy pink apple and unctuous pear, flowing seamlessly into an elegant, layered finish. Fine phenolics provide structure and complexity, inviting repeated sips and leaving a lasting impression of balance and finesse.

Winemaking Style:Progressive

Harvest:The 2024 vintage, the hottest and driest on record, brought an early harvest with exceptional sunshine. Wines show remarkable concentration, depth, and opulence, with both whites and reds promising great future development.

Winemaking:io-dynamically grown grapes were hand harvested with natural yeast and no further additions. Created using the saignèe method for the red grape varieties grown at Cullen Wines. Some portions of this wine were fermented in stainless steel, barrels and ceramic egg giving good texture and complexity.

Viticulture:The soils at Cullen are old, granite and gravely sandy loam, overlaying lateritic subsoils. The vines are dry farmed, helping to ensure maximum fruit quality, and are both pruned and harvested by hand. Low yields enable the flavours of the grapes to develop fully.

Food Pairing:Palak Paneer, Roast Vegetables, peach custard Kuchen

This is made by the team using the saignèe method, with grapes biodynamically grown. All red varieties grown by Cullen are included, from the Cullen and Mangan vineyards. Harvesting is on fruit and flower days with fermentation – wild yeast – in a mix of stainless steel, barrels and ceramic eggs. A deep neon pink. The nose gives us spices, strawberries, dry herbs, a hint of orange rind, cherries and florals. Full of flavour and yet elegant, this is a superb example of Rosé. Balanced and clean, with bright yet gentle acidity and very good length. A complete style. Enjoy over the next two to four years.

Cullen Wines

In 1966, on the advice of eminent agronomist, Dr John Gladstones, Dr Kevin John and Diana Madeline Cullen and friends undertook a trial planting of vines in Wilyabrup, Margaret River. In 1971, they established Cullen Wines with the first vines planted on their sheep and cattle farm; these are now the iconic Cullen cabernet sauvignon vines. All Cullen Wines are grown on a certified biodynamic, organic, carbon neutral and naturally powered estate. In 2020, Chief Winemaker Vanya Cullen was awarded ‘Winemaker of the Year’ in the Halliday Wine Companion and the winery voted 'Best in Australia' by Huon Hooke’s The Real Review. In 2021, Vanya was the recipient of Halliday’s 2022 Wine Companion Inaugural Viticulturist of the Year Award.
