Tasting Notes

"A very complex and finely detailed nose here with aromas of blueberries and violets, fragrant spices and sappy forest wood. I like the complexity here. There's a very smooth, fine feel to the palate with tannins that are supple and layered, carrying ripe red-cherry and blueberry flavours long and fresh" James Suckling

CRFT

CRFT Wines, founded by winemakers Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries, specializes in crafting small-batch single-vineyard wines. Candice and Frewin began their winemaking journey in 2012, with a passion for single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and the rare Grüner Veltliner. In 2016, they acquired Arranmore Vineyard, swiftly transitioning it to organic farming, and obtaining NASAA Certified Organic status by February 2019. Their estate offers wines like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Grüner Veltliner. CRFT's minimal-intervention winemaking starts with hand-picked fruit. They emphasize natural fermentation with wild yeasts, avoiding synthetic additives. Hand-plunging prevents unwanted hydrogen sulfide formation, and gravity is used for clarification instead of filtering. Their eco-friendly approach extends to the labels, featuring detailed soil photographs that visually represent the unique soil profiles from different blocks. These photos, created by the late Archie McArthur, underscore CRFT's commitment to celebrating the land and its essence.
