Tasting Notes

A wonderfully perfumed, medium-weight Shiraz bursting with raspberries and vibrant red fruits, layered with spice and flickers of star anise. The palate carries a lively sweep of fruit through the midsection, anchored by gravelly ironstone tannins that speak clearly of place. A light dusting of black pepper lingers, adding finesse to this expressive, regionally true wine.

Harvest:The dry yet cool conditions of the 2022 harvest allowed the Cabernet to ripen slowly and with lovely elegance. A healthy crop ripened beautifully for harvest in mid to late April.

Viticulture:Frankland Estate is buried deep in the heart of Western Australia’s most isolated wine region. It’s located 330km south of Perth, 250km east of Margaret River and some 50km inland from the wild and picturesque Great Southern coastline. The key soil profile of this undulating site is what we call “coffee rock” - ironstone gravel over a clay subsoil.
