James Suckling

I love the cherry, plum and orange peel character of this red. Medium body with firm and velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Needs a year or two to soften.

Piombaia

The Piombaia family farm emerged from the union of the Rossi and Cantini families. For three generations, the farm has been led by various family members. Currently, Francesco, Cecilia, and Vittorio Cantini oversee its management. Since 2009, the team at Piombaia has embraced biodynamic farming principles. Their wine embodies their work and life philosophy. Beyond the expertise and intuition of the winemaker and producer, the wine captures the unique essence of each season and vintage. Every vintage retains its distinct personality and structure, ensuring the wine isn't a mere replication but rather a reflection of nature's nuances. The Piombaia vineyards, in north-eastern Montalcino, are split into different plots, diversified in Altitude and soil. They view their vineyard as a holistic living entity, akin to the surrounding woods. Everything exists in harmony: the nourishing underbrush, diverse fauna, and the vineyard's innate self-regulation. Similarly, the wine is allowed to freely express its inherent potential.
