Halliday Companion - Ned Goodwin MW

Swigging sangiovese made in a light, sensitive fashion: dutiful extraction, randy tannins with a curl and red berry fruits that pop across the mouth, laced with anise, clove and assuaging oak. This is good. Fresh. Dangerous, even!

919 Organic Wines

Established in 1999, 919 Wines is a family-owned winery in Glossop, South Australia, that has seen significant growth. The vineyards, established in 2002 with their first vintage released in 2004, enable the winery to manage a 60-tonne grape crush, sourced from both their own vineyards and those of trusted growers. A second vineyard was acquired in 2011, promising a bright future. At the helm are Eric Semmler, Director and Chief Winemaker, known for his expertise in fortified wines, and Jenny Semmler, Company Secretary and Director, who is adept in wine flavor development. Their mission is to craft exceptional wines that reflect their region and embody values of purity, integrity, and sustainability while prioritizing customers and community support. They minimize their environmental footprint through organic grape production and reduced chemical use. Additionally, they offer moonlit picnics in their vineyards, providing a unique experience of savoring their wines under the stars, sometimes in the company of local kangaroos.
