Tasting Notes

A classic McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe tannins, blackcurrant and herbal notes on the nose, terrific length and structure and a balance; the fruit more than matches the fine tannin structure. Plenty of deep, dark-fruited aromatics with this wine, and there is also a bit of dark olive and sage action as well. There is a generosity on the palate, dark plummy fruit, mulberry and spice with a savouriness and firmness of tannin that gives the wine structure and purpose. It delivers generosity of flavour balanced out with granular, savoury tannin.

The Real Review - Stuart Knox

Deep and dark ruby core. A nose of black fruits, wood-spice and dry earth aromas. Good flow of fruit and spice across the palate, quite focused and driven, with firm but resolved tannins giving tension and persistence to the finish.

Halliday Companion - Jane Faulkner

There's a freshness within, a juiciness with some cassis, scorched earth and licorice, it sits comfortably.

Battle of Bosworth

Battle of Bosworth Wines draws inspiration from the historic Battle of Bosworth in 1485 and the demise of Richard III. Joch Bosworth, the driving force behind the winery, is recognized as a prominent organic winemaker and grape grower. His dedication to organic practices began due to a discomfort with synthetic chemicals and a belief in traditional farming methods suited for McLaren Vale. The vineyards, featuring Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Mourvèdre, are fully certified organic, embracing sustainable weed management and re-vegetation projects for biodiversity. Joch Bosworth's commitment to innovation, environmental sustainability, and grape growing excellence earned him the title of McLaren Vale's grape grower of the year in 2008.
