Tasting Notes

Domaine de Montille, nestled in Volnay's heart in Burgundy, stands as a beacon of wine excellence since the 18th century. Revered for its age-worthy wines that epitomize Burgundian terroir, the estate masterfully blends tradition with innovation, preserving the region's rich winemaking legacy. The Bourgogne Le Clos du Château opens with a discreet zesty bouquet punctuated by secondary notes. Perfectly balanced, it embraces an enveloping texture, and delivers a persistent finish. It is a particularly refined wine for a simple Burgundy, a notch above the classic Chardonnay Burgundy.

Domaine de Montille

Domaine de Montille boasts a legacy dating back to the early 18th century. However, its modern renaissance began in 1947 when, at the tender age of 17, Hubert de Montille took the reins due to his father's passing. By 1951, the domain was under his full stewardship. The next chapter commenced as Etienne, Hubert's son, began to immerse himself in the family's wine endeavors. Since 1990, Etienne's influence has been pivotal, propelling the domaine's stature skyward. Strategic vineyard acquisitions expanding their holdings in the Côte d’Or. With a forward-thinking spirit, Etienne pioneered the shift to organic cultivation in 1995, culminating in a full commitment to biodynamics a decade later. While Hubert's wines echoed patience and introspection, Etienne's craftsmanship embodies vibrancy and immediacy. This evolution stems from meticulous vineyard management, judicious yield control, renouncing chemical fertilizers, keen monitoring of ripeness, and precision in winemaking.
