Tasting Notes

Rosina is an attractive pink diamond colour. The aroma is exotic, alluring and bright, strikingly engaging, it signals quality. Strawberries and cream dominate along with heirloom rose petals and musk. The brightness continues to the vividly fresh palate. It is juicy but flavoursome. Crunchy toffee apple is met with watermelon. Perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness restrained by natural fruity acidity.

Winemaking Style:Traditional / low-intervention

Harvest:Vintage 2021 was an exemplary year with fine wines and good yields.

Winemaking:Following crushing, the numerous lots of juice were in contact with the skins for 2 - 8 hours for subtle colour and flavour extraction. The juice was then slowly fermented at a cool temperature over 10 days ensuring maximum retention of aroma and fruitiness. Prior to bottling a small amount of unfermented juice was blended back to add a touch of natural residual sweetness.

Viticulture:A selection of Grenache is combined with a small portion of Shiraz to make a fruit-driven complex rosé. All vines are grown in sandy loam soil over deep red clay and are all hand-pruned.

Food Pairing:Salad niçoise, Prosciutto and melon, Grilled prawn skewers, Bruschetta, Fish tacos, Ceviche, Sushi and sashimi, Caprese salad, Greek salad, Lobster roll, Fresh fruit salad, Goat cheese and herbed crostini, Singapore noodles, Pad thai, Thai green curry, Vietnamese fresh spring rolls, Szechuan prawns

Halliday Companion - Dave Brookes

A blend of 92/8% grenache/shiraz from the biodynamically farmed vineyards of the Kalleske in family in the western Barossa. Such a pretty-smelling wine, with aromas of redcurrant, raspberry and strawberries, brushed with jasmine and soft spice. Fragrant in the mouth too, with a wash of bright red fruit, crushed stone and floral flourish. It finishes dry and savoury.

The Real Review - Aaron Brasher

Pale pink, onion-skin colour in the glass. Florals, dried herbs and ripe strawberry aromas. Fleshy red fruits drive the palate, it has some decent weight and texture about it then some crunchy acidity kicks in and provides length and freshness.

Kalleske

The Kalleske family, rooted in South Australia's Barossa Valley since 1853, is known for their exceptional grape-growing across seven generations. The journey began in 1853 when they founded their farm in Moppa, a sub-district of the Barossa Valley. Today, the property encompasses vineyards, livestock, a chaff mill, and a winery, maintained by the sixth and seventh generations. In 2002, brothers Troy and Tony Kalleske established the Kalleske winery to emphasize the potential of their vineyard through traditional winemaking. Their 120-acre estate, managed by John, Lorraine, and Kym Kalleske, features a variety of grapevines, some dating back to 1875, with an impressive average vine age of 50 years. The Kalleske estate has been proudly certified organic and biodynamic since 1998, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to organic practices in both their vineyard and winery.
