Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port is elegantly simple: a ruby Port from one notable year, matured 4-6 years in wood. It flaunts fresh blackberries, cherries, and plums. The palate reveals intense dark fruit and spices, harmonized by structured tannins for a lasting finish.

Robert Parker

The 2017 Late Bottled Vintage Porto Bio Quinta da Trovisca is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, bottled, unoaked, in March 2021 with 83 grams of residual sugar, a bar-top cork (unlike the regular LBV reviewed this issue) and light filtration. This is the debut organic release from 1999 vines. Tightly wound, very dry, a little sharp and a little compact, this is still immediately enticing because of its fruit-forward personality. Thanks to its unoaked nature, it is pure and expressive.

Quevedo (Trovisca)

In the heart of the Douro Valley, a passionate team of wine enthusiasts, rooted in generations of tradition, come together under the banner of Quevedo Family. They aren't just wine producers; they are storytellers and cultivators of "Friendology" - the art of cherishing moments with family and friends without pretense or airs. While the Quevedo lineage has crafted Port Wine for over five generations, the contemporary face of the company only emerged in 1993. Raised amidst the lush vineyards and aging barrels, siblings Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo (Jr.) naturally embraced their family's wine legacy. Cláudia Quevedo, an enology graduate from the University of Vila Real, has been crafting Port wines at Quevedo since 1998. Bearing the legacy of the Douro Valley, they carry forward the values passed down from their forebears, deeply rooted in respecting the fertile lands that have sustained them. Now, as stewards for the next generation, their commitment to sustainability and legacy has never been stronger.
