Raina

Francesco Mariani, a passionate vine grower in Montefalco, Umbria, crafts biodynamic wines in harmonious collaboration with his dedicated friend and assistant, Andrea Mattioli. Their journey began on a field once owned by a figure affectionately known as "Raina," where the first Sagrantino vines took root. To honor this connection to the land's history, they named their cantina "Raina." In 2002, their winery was born, and they embarked on a mission to cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards, situated between 220 and 300 meters above sea level, boast medium-textured, stone-rich soils, basking in a predominantly southeast exposure. In a defining move in 2022, Francesco and Andrea chose to exit the DOC circuit, deliberately certifying all their wines as IGT Umbria. This decision mirrors their commitment to craft wines that reflect their vision, terroir, and unwavering dedication to the art of winemaking. Their wines stand as a testament to the synergy between passion, history, and the land.
