Richmond Plains
Richmond Plains, a trailblazer in organic winemaking, proudly crafted New Zealand's first Certified Organic Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Their range includes Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, Rose, Syrah, and Blanc de Noir, a Pinot Noir vinified as a white wine. Richmond Plains embarked on their organic winemaking journey since their inception in 1991. The label features a Koru, an unfolding fern frond, a symbol in New Zealand Maori mythology representing new beginnings, life unfolding, and growth. Each season brings new life to the vineyard and fresh opportunities to create wines. Simultaneously, the flavours of past vintages gently evolve and unfold as they mature. Richmond Plains enriches the soil and vines with biological brews and compost teas. They manage diseases through the introduction of natural beneficial organisms like Trichoderma and Bacilus Subtilus, outcompeting undesirable organisms. Richmond Plains' vibrant and verdant vineyard creates an inviting habitat for various native birds, lizards, and butterflies, such as the Monarch and Admiral.
