James Suckling

An excellent dry estate riesling with strident chalky minerality. Compact and well structured, with as much depth as many village wines from this vintage. With a little aeration you have generous mirabelle and citrus aromas. Very good length, everything fitting beautifully at the finish.

Battenfeld-Spanier

BattenfeldSpanier vineyard, stewarded by its dedicated team, tends to 12 remarkable crus, each distinguished by its limestone and slate soils. Here, Riesling grapes are nurtured with a vision that transcends time and space. Founded in 1991, this independent winery, from its inception, has embraced organic principles as a core ethos. Their foremost goal remains the reinvigoration and preservation of soil vitality, a treasure chest of history and a promise of the future. Membership in the esteemed "Renaissance des Appellations," initiated by Nicolas Joly, stands as both an honor and a responsibility, fostering collaboration and innovation among like-minded biodynamic vintners. For them, maturity is not a destination but a transformative odyssey where grape aromas blend harmoniously with the terroir's subtleties – the land, soil, and stone. It's in this juncture that the genius loci of the Rhine terrace and the slate soils of the Red Slope truly unveil their profound essence.
