Tasting Notes

For over 230 years, the Kühn family has crafted exceptional wines in the unique setting of the small Rheingau region. In the 1970s, Peter Jakob Kühn and Angela embarked on a journey to create top-quality wines that truly reflect their 18-hectare vineyards along the Rhine's banks. Oestrich Doosberg Riesling 2017 presents fine scent of citrus, pears and honey. On the palate is racy with much noticeable, but perfectly integrated acidity. A wine with a lot of play, tension and delicate structure.

Get down to the funk! A bold and slightly crazy dry riesling with plenty of power and its own groove. Bold finish.

Robert Parker

Aged on the fine lees until February this year and for another eight weeks until the bottling in April, the 2017 Doosberg Riesling Trocken "GG" is beautifully intense and ripe but also refined and seductive on the raspberry-scented nose. The palate is pure, finessed and salty and reveals ripe, concentrated and very intense fruit without losing the crystalline finesse and purity. The finish is pure, fresh and crisp, very clear and piquant, leaving the palate with very fine tannins and salts. Highly impressive, tight and compact but so generous!

Decanter Magazine

Gravel, loess and loam provide an ideal mix of drainage and water retention on the Doosberg while an extra year of maturity does wonders for this individualistic style. Chamomile and ethereal citrus peel dominate the heady nose. The palate is poised and presents itself in a seemingly suspended juiciness, heaven-bound but still weighed down by glorious fruit and a firm, buffered line of freshness. Zesty lemon almost provides a citrus oil texture. This is exquisite, singular, indivudual, a triumph.
